Picture Perfect But Inedible!Feb 23, 2010 I bought all three types of cerignola olives from this seller -- red, green & black -- and when the package arrived, it was leaking. The olives were not vacuum-packed nor factory-sealed, but bulk items placed in large non-airtight plastic jars. I tried an olive and it was dreadful, perhaps as a result of being exposed to air for four days without refrigeration. On the plus side, the owner of [...] replied promptly and politely to my complaint, first offering to replace the olives, but finally agreeing to a full refund. (I returned them so he would know I wasn't trying to scam free product.)

fresh crisp olivesMay 30, 2009 These olives are excellent. So this is what a fresh olive is like!
Supermarket olives will treat you to strong vinegar and salt flavor. These Cerignola olives will treat you to the taste of olives. All three colors are firmer than anything I ever got from a supermarket canned olive product.
Green: Bright natural green color, looks like a fresh-picked olive. Very firm texture, you get the full olive fruit taste, and its a hint tarter than red.
Red: Bright red is softer than green, with an almost buttery olive flavor, smooth and dreamy texture (currently the picture on the product page is of a dull green olive, the red is bright red like a cherry).
Black: This one is about as firm as red and has a kinda nutty and a bit stronger olive taste than red.
Packaging: The olives came in clear plastic jars that were easy to open by hand without using any special tools. Each plastic jar was also plastic-wrapped. After removal of plastic wrap, one jar was slightly moist around the lid, but no spillage of liquid at all occurred and the rest of the jar was dry on the outside. It appears (and I don't know for certain) as if the olives were packed to order from a deli, not factory packed.
I was very happy with the taste of these olives and will purchase them again. They are also very pretty when all three colors are in a bowl, and would make a great holiay or party appetizer.
